Attack imbuements (fire, earth, ice, energy, death, life leech, mana leech, critical hit): Do these only tick down when you attack something? How about if something is attacking you?

Protective Imbuements (death, earth, fire, ice, energy, holy, paralysis): Do these only tick down when something is attacking you? How about if you're attacking something?

Support imbuements (speed, cap): This ticks down as long as you have the boots or backpack equipt.

Skill improving Imbuements (axe, sword, club, distance, shielding, magic level): Do these only tick down when you attack something? How about if something is attacking you?

Attack imbuements: Tick down when you have battle sign.
Protective imbuements: Tick down when you have battle sign.
Support imbuements: Tick down when you have them equipped.

There is no difference between attacking or blocking creatures, you will still lose time when you have battle sign, so the best way to prevent this is to unequip all your imbued items and use when needed. You can also have a set without imbuements to use to run and not be without equipments.

Did you use an ai for this answer just curious? Or any source?

I didn't used AI in this answer. The source is my guild and myself, I've tested and the timer always started to count when I was with battle sign, even when in depot or protection zones, because there is 1 minute to lose battle sign and even when you are in protection zones you are still with battle sign active and the imbuements expires. I've also asked my guild leader and he confirmed that it works this way.

Your answer doesn't address the question. The question doesn't ask for how to get imbuements.
