Does Bestiary Betterment potion work if I don't win the monster?

Question

I am wondering if the Bestiary Betterment potion will work on monsters that I will not win.

Situation:

I want to hunt with friends that I don't have share with, we just want to make some charms. They are higher levels and they are overdamaging monsters. Will it make any sense for me to use the potion? Will I get the double bestiary points even if I will make so much less damage?

I believe that as long you hit 1 damage, you will get the potion working properly. I would like to have the chance to test it. Rest assured that this potion is worth more when you hunt mobs in a good pace of killing synchronized with a good respawn rate

You will still get 2 kill counts for each kill, otherwise it would be too risky to use the potion for creatures like yeti or midnight panther as only one person would get the extra kill count.

I can confirm this. I've killed the Yeti with 2 other guys, everyone was using the bestiary potions and everyone got double kills for each Yeti.
