If I use Bestiary Betterment potion when killing the Midnight Panther, does the extra kill count towards the Midnight Hunter achievement?

Is the achievement based on bestiary count or is there some reason it wouldn't count? I wouldn't want to waste a bunch of bestiary betterment potions only to find out the extra kill isn't applied to the achievement.

For example, if you loot 2 Bags of Stolen Gold during double loot and turn in both, only 1 counts towards the achievement.
