Is there a way to approach John The Carpenter without going through the Usurpers?

I was wondering if it's possible to get to John's little house (to buy tapestries) without having to go through all the Usurper/Lion playground. Someone mentioned there was another way but we cannot find it.

Without walking past any Usurper: no, there isn't. You can't completely avoid the Usurpers on the small field where the house is located. But there is a slightly shorter path with less Usurpers on it if you use the right levitate spots:

1. From the small boat, go to the small house at the north-eastern part of the island (where the Anciet Lion Knight used to live):

2. Go up the stairs, then find the levitate spot from the northern sqms facing south. You'll arrive here:

3. Now you can either levitate again facing west, from around that location, or go to the yellow sqm on the map which is a rope spot. You'll be on the floor where you'll find John's house. Beware that there may be several Usurpers waiting for you on this floor!

To return you can use the same path, but you must start by levitating down right above the Ancient Lion Knight's old house. This part can be dangerous if there are Usurpers attacking you while you look for the spot, as you may get trapped on the wrong place. If you're in danger you should go up to one of the safe floors above and wait until the Usurpers are busy attacking the Lions that also spawn there.
