I was wondering about the Follow option that you can set on other characters. It is somewhat interesting early on if you are with other low level friends exploring the game. But later on, it seems to be arguably less efficient than keyboard or mouse commands.

For example, if the char that I follow is slightly higher level than me, the follow seems to make me lag behind him. If the character is higher than my level in a substantial way or if he uses a speed boost, using keyboard or mouse seems way more decent as a way to keep on track on him.

Saying that, I ask: Should we focus more on "manual" following rather than the automatic follow in Tibia?

Moving around using manual commands, either on the keyboard or the mouse, provides a better response. Follow can be used when someone is lagging, but he is the one who should be followed, this way he will set the pace for the other players and everyone should stay together.

It depends on the situation, If you are lazy, lag or you are a little busy to go somewhere and you have a friend that can carry you there, you can use the "Follow" option, or is there is no any danger you can also can use "map-click".

But for sure the best way to walk is using mouse+keyboard, because you can decide your movements and the best way to pass.
