What is the difference between the Numb and Cripple charms?

The charms Numb and Cripple sound so similar I'm really not sure how they are different from each other. Can you please explain the difference and maybe give an example on how it would work? I have them unlocked I'm just really not sure...

• Cripple: Cripples the creature with a certain chance and paralyses it for 10 seconds.
• Numb: Numbs the creature with a certain chance after its attack and paralyses the creature for 10 seconds.

Basically they both paralyze the creature but in 2 different ways:

• Cripple paralyzes sometimes the creature when you attack it.
• Numb paralyzes sometimes the creature when it attacks you

I don't really like any of them, and think they are pretty useless, but if you really want to buy one, I would go for numb if the creatures you hunt attack on the distance and often; or for cripple if they do not attack on the distance and you can use area runes spells on them
