How many gems can be used simultaneously?

At knight's wheel of destiny I've seen 11 gems slots. Greater guardian gems have an option to have 1 perc physical protection. Is that mean I can have even 11 perc additional Phys protection from that source? And 88 perc additional crit damage from fierce berserk?

The number of gems you can use depends on your skill wheel and of course a on your level, because you need to add points to the gem slots yo activate them. 

In order to activate all gem slots (btw there are 12 slots, not 11) you must be at least level 1850. 

Also, it is imposible to have 12 physical protection gems, or 12 crit gems. This happens because in Lesser slot you will never have physical protection, neither crit. Physical protection can only be found in the medium slot and crit in the greater one.
