Is it better to buy a Soulhexer or spend it on the upcoming Double Event and train ML?

I have an ED level 500+, but my ML is low (currently 104). The double XP event is coming, and I'm unsure if I should spend money investing in training my ML or buy a Soulhexer.

Currently, I'm using a Falcon Rod.

As a 528ED myself, by that level you're probably better off saving for a sanguine rod altogether.

If you die a lot while hunting, even worse, mlvl will eventually rise up on its own (not as fast as focus-training) but it can go down as well, wasting precious resources.

Equipment will stay with you until you decide to upgrade/sell.

Add to clarify, training is always the right answer, no matter what, but if you have to split your resources, plan accordingly.
