Why do creatures that hit from a distance when you are in melee with them start moving SQM by SQM, while when they are far away they have a more fluid movement?

That's because some creatures are designed to keep their distance, but they'll move just when a player gets to melee distance, that's why it won't be so fluid.
Just a curiosity: back in the days, we used to have a function for that, as players too, similar to the "Chase Opponent" one (https://tibia.fandom.com/wiki/Chase_Opponent), but it was discontinued later, because it was really not used, mainly because it wasn't a fluid movement and monsters would get close to us anyway.
