Why is the "Mount" option always checked on the Customise Character window?

I noticed that when you uncheck the "Mount' option on the Customize Character window and click ok, it will dismount your character in game but once you open the window again, the "Mount" option is checked again. Is there anyway to permanently dismount your character?
