Some time ago I noticed that there is a way that some weak monsters that usually don't attack us can kill us. Take a look at the image below.

At first glance it looks strange, doesn't it? Usually, monsters like Flamingo or Horse run away from us and don't attack us at all. If our character is a knight, however, we can force some such monsters to attack us or even kill us.

The 'Challenge' spell is responsible for this.

'Challenge' spell forces monsters to attack us. But it turns out that it doesn't work on all monsters. For example, I noticed that Pigeon, Sheep, Dog, or Black Sheep after using the spell will follow us but will not attack us. In turn, the butterfly will start attacking us, but only smoke puffs appear on the player. Butterflies probably do not deal any damage. The exception to this may be the improved or fiendish butterflies introduced after the last winter game update but I haven't checked that yet. I would like to know what monsters that don't usually attack us can kill us. Unfortunately, I don't have a knight on the right level to check it. Imagine, death caused by a fish would be very spectacular smiley It would be really cool to create a monster list like this. I noticed that a horse can attack for 2HP and a Flamingo can only attack for 1 HP. It turns out that monsters that don't usually attack us have their damage stats. I'm also interested in knowing if such monsters cast any spells while attacking. That could be interesting.

I don't know if this adds much to this topic, but it's a bit related: If I'm not mistaken, creatures that usually run away from us do this in 'full defense' mode.

I realized it when training in Telas' basement with Modified Gnarlhounds. When you use 'exeta res' on them, they die way faster then when you don't (I haven't measured yet how much faster it is). You actually just need to do it once, and, as it seems, we force them drop the 'defense mode' to get into 'attack mode' for good; even when the 'exera res' effect fades, they maintain 'attack mode' and take more damage then before the 'exeta res'.

Such a tendency would be almost impossible to perceive in creatures with lower HP (the ones that usually run away from players).

This might open a new field of research, I suppose. Some questions would be: Do creatures that run in low health also change to 'defense mode' when running away? Are there 'tanky' (e.g. Hive Overseer) or mage-like (e.g. Lizard Dragon Priest) creatures that are standardly programmed to fight in 'def mode'? I realize now this is more like a new topic then an answer to your question, sorry for that!

It's interesting. Thanks for the information. Maybe I'll take a closer look at it later.

Awesome note! Hope this can lead to further questions and, hopefully, answers

Interesting question! It's actually more complicated than it sounds, but also because of incorrect information displayed in the Bestiary. Before going into our (mines and Hunter of Dragoes') discoveries, let me mention that in TibiaWiki's bestiary simulator all creatures are currently shown with the swords icon. That tool currently does not support this icons data, and that is just a static image for all creatures (something we plan on updating).

The first thing we verified is that No Harmless creatures attack you, even when challenged or summoned. In fact, all Harmless creatures have the "Creature does not attack" icon in their bestiary:

Moving on to Trivial creatures, you have noticed that some such as Sheep won't attack you even though they have the swords icon. That's a mistake in the bestiary. Creatures like Sheep also have "Skill = 0" in their configuration file (this can be verified through the leaked server files). The reason these creatures are not categorized as "Harmless" in the bestiary is that they drop loot. In order for a creature to be Harmless, it must not attack and must not drop any loot. And as it turns out, it looks like Cip decided to use the Icon only on Harmless creatures, instead of using it on all creatures with Skill 0, which should also display that same icon. This will be reported to CipSoft after I finish writing this answer.

With that explained, we can now start building our list. We can start by skipping all Harmless creatures. When looking at Trivial Creatures, we have:

  • Adventurer
  • Bog Frog
  • Deer
  • Flamingo
  • Green Frog
  • Horse (all 3 colors)
  • Parrot
  • Seagull

Pigs and Butterflies are special cases. Even though they will attack when challenged or summoned they cannot kill anything because their Attack value is 0 (even though they have FistSkill > 0 which allows them to attack). All their hits will "poof" because of that.

Surprisingly, there's actually also one easy creature that will not attack you: Calamarys.

There are probably other creatures as well that are only summoned by other creatures or from events, which will be a little harder to test.

I have just made two further changes:

- I added Adventurer to the list;
- It's not "Attack = 0" but actually FistFighting = 0 that prevents these creatures from attacking. Pigs have Attack = 0 but Fist = 10, so they're attacking but they'll never do any damage. Sheep have FistFighting = 0 so they don't even attack.

Thanks for your quick reply. I have accepted your answer. Interesting theories. Just explain to me how a Pig can kill me because I see you left it in the list (Or add a comment next to the pig that it attacks but does not deal damage.) I am interested in two more creatures. I would like to know how Fish and Wild Horse behave. If someone could look it up I would appreciate it and then @Lee_Kun can add these monsters to the list.

I'll add a comment to Pig (which is the same case that of Butterflies). You're right that it cannot kill you (I was reading the question as "can attack us"), because I was looking at it from the technical point of view. It's Atk 0 means it never deals any damage even when trained, it's easy to imagine that this 0 zeroes the rest of the damage calculation. I did test Fish and they did not attack (but they actually have a Haste spell). I'll keep an eye out for Wild Horses to test them

Oh, and I don't know if this is valid (don't have the bestiaries to check), but probably the ones who can kill you are the ones who have more than 0 on its attack base status (would like if someone could check this theory)

There's a bestiary simulator on tibia wiki that shows you how the creature looks in your bestiary once fully unlocked maybe this can help? https://tibia.fandom.com/wiki/Bestiary/Simulator

Hmm good idea, but I haven't found an answer to my question. I checked some entries in bestiary. And so for example the Sheep ora Black Sheep should attack within melee range. However, if we use the 'challenge' spell it just follows us and doesn't attack. It is the same with the Chicken or a Rabbit. Wow. Does this mean that these monsters can somehow be forced to attack in a different way? When it comes to the pigeon, dog or cat, everything is correct. These monsters are marked as non-attacking in the bestiary. Strange... Also, there is no damage shown in bestiary. Unless I am not aware of something? @Shawtay that link you gave is a cool tool, but I see that it shows wrong stats for some monsters. For example, according to the tool, dog should attack, but in bestiary in game it's shown that it doesn't attack at all.
