Is it possible to still loot items from The Isle of Evil bosses after completing the quest?

I wanted to loot some items from the Isle of Evil bosses but I can't use them, skin them, or use a blessed stake on them. Is this because I completed the quest? So in order to loot boss items I need to use a different character that hasn't completed the quest or? It's been a while since I did the quest so I forgot if it's possible or not.

You can only loot the items from boss the first time you kill.
