Can the music box break?

Question

I know the music box works on certain creatures to tame them... I saw those posts (What’s the rarest mount I can get using a music box? - TibiaQA and What mounts can I tame with the Music Box? - TibiaQA) 

But my question is: Can it break if used on a creature that doesn't accept it? And how do we know with 100% certainty sure which creatures it works? There is a book or something that say? Or people just tried and figured out?

The Music box is the only item used for tame a creature without risking to fail. The only 'issue' is that it is not working on every creature.

There's a list with the creatures you can tame with a music box:

Dragonling, Ironblight, Kingly Deer, Magma Crawler, Midnight Panther, Wailing Widow, Wild Horse, Panda, Draptor.

Hey Jess,

I remember when music box was implemented and nobody found any kind of "official information" about it, except by the taming item NPC answering to "music box" which indicated it was indeed a taming item. Well, the standard weight of 2 oz and the item description also pointed towards it being a taming item. Then, players started investigating it and discovered which monsters can be tamed with it. There was a test server on which I tried to tame the monsters that are not in the "confirmed list" and they indeed couldn't be tamed, so somebody else had probably checked them before me. However, I can't state I double checked all creatures on the "tamable" list (it would take a few years of test servers to check them all with a single music box). Anyway, in all these tests, the music box never broke.
