I saw on Tibia wiki that the Wand of Might once existed in the game, however this wand was then transformed into the Volcanic Rod, which was then later removed from the game. When you search the Wand of Might on tibia wiki it says the item no longer exists:

However, when I search the Volcanic Rod, it says this wand was originally the Wand of Might which transformed into the Volcanic Rod, which transformed into the now existing Necrotic Rod:

I discovered a book in Demona which talks of Talon falling in lava to empower the Wand of Might and was wanting to conduct my own investigations.

Is the Necrotic Rod the Wand of Might, or does it simply no longer exist (tibia wiki is conflicting in the information)

Any Wand of Might that existed in game was transformed into a Volcanic Rod in the Winter Update of 2005 (Update 7.6). Then in the Winter Update of 2007 (Update 8.1) all Volcanic Rods were transformed into Necrotic Rods. So technically the Wand of Might no longer exists. Any Wand of Might that existed would now be a Necrotic Rod.

Interesting. I read a book that indicates when a talon was dropped in the lava it activated the wand of might to glow. I wonder if that function still exists with the necrotic rod then if they can be said to be the same wand (just a different evolution through the updates).

I do know the book you are referring to. I believe there is a location in the Demona Library that had a Wand of Might on a stone in the middle of lava that is now a Necrotic Rod.

Wow, interesting, that may indeed confirm it contains the same functionality. Thank you!
