What does snowballs do?

I saw some people playing with snowballs and making large snowballs and even transforming other people on Snowman after hitting them... How do I do these things? What are all of the current functions of snowballs?

you can use the snowballs on other people (use with and seletcing a player) to transform layers into snowman or using a snowball in another one to make a large snowball (only works in the ground) and if you have a frozen carrot you can make an animated snowman but only in the percht island
