There are three types of alternate websites that provide information for the game of Tibia.  Those would be Promoted, Supported and Unsupported Websites.

Unsupported Websites: Provide resources and information about Tibia. They do not earn any rewards such as Fansite Items, Game Supported Contests, and promotions/advertisement through the official Tibia homepage. They can also be old Promoted/Supported websites that no longer met the requirements to be supported or promoted. Making the fansite items from them even more valuable to the player base.

Supported Websites:  Have passed through the evaluation by Cipsoft and were approved by their fansite program.  Containing valuable information and resources that help the average player.  Many websites establish a community and location of information for players that need a website in their own language.

Supported Websites earn the following benefits:

  • A direct link from the Tibia.com fansite section.
  • A badge for supported Tibia fansites.
  • Access to the internal fansite board on which material like featured articles, screenshots, artwork, and update teasers are presented in advance.
  • A contact person from the community management department of Cipsoft, who will assist in all fansite related questions.
  • Prizes for fansite events, in agreement with community management.
  • Test server access for the contact person and an additional five fansite helpers.
  • A unique in-game decoration item for the fansite, which the fansite can propose.
  • Posting of news concerning the fansite in the news ticker, when the news is emailed to fansites@tibia.com 3 days in advance and has been approved by the community management.

Promoted Websites: Have everything supported websites contain such as meeting the parameters set by Cipsoft.  They also go further by creating their own content on a regular basis as well as keep up-to-date information about Tibia.

Promoted Websites receive supported benefits as well as the following:

  • Highlighting as a promoted Tibia fansite in the Tibia.com fansite section.
  • A badge for promoted Tibia fansites.
  • An exclusive interview with a CipSoft member once a year.
  • Free Premium Time for the contact person and up to 3 helpers.

Promoted Fansites got 4 x 1.500 Tibia Coins every 6 months to give to any character (Usually their staff). Also can make one interview per year with Cipsoft employer.

It seems like the difference is that promoted fansites have to stay more up to date with information/articles.

Promoted Fansites

"Our promoted fansites are constantly up-to-date and offer own generated content on a regular basis."

Supported Fansites

"Our supported fansites are a great source of information - no matter what you are looking for."

  • Test server access for the contact person and 5 fansite helpers
