Does Fireball or GFB deal most damage to a single target?

Question

I want to know: if my goal is to deal the highest amounts of damage to a single creature, for an example: King Zelos.

Should I use GFB or Fireball runes? 

Same is valid for Icicle / Avalanche

Is the single target rune stronger than the AOE version?

Even though this is not an official source, Tibia-Stats Spell Damage Calculator is a very reliable tool because it was built using a lot of data and testing. The interesting thing there is that you can calculate rune/spell damage based on your level and magic level. There's not that much variance, though. If we take an example of a lvl 500 ml 130 mage, we get the following values:

GFB: min 263, max 487, avg 375

Fireball: min 346, max 507, avg 427

The results were the same if using the equivalent Ice runes.

So, if you are interested in dealing maximum damage to a single creature, using single target runes (Fireball and Icicle) yields better results than AoE runs (GFB and Avalanche).

Hi! From my experience playing mages and testing these two runes specifically. There's no difference between the damage of both, the only difference relies on one being AoE (GFB) and the other one being single target (Fireball) I tested it with some bosses from the latest quests and it worked exactly the same. Though it would have more sense to have a single target rune to hit more, I also tested it back in the days with ice runes, when I was doing demon task to kill demons with the same result, no difference

My experience is different from Ryocrits'. I also tested this to verify the best rune to use on King Zelos and I came to the conclusion that the Fireball runes are slightly stronger. I don't have the data anymore, but I think it was between 5% and 10% more damage. This can make a considerable difference when all the mages of the team are using it and time is a very important factor, as it is during the King Zelos fight.
