How to cancel a bid on a house?

I've placed a bid on one house that is being auctioned, but I have changed my mind and don't want it anymore. How can I cancel a bid on that house?

You are not able to cancel your bid once you have placed it.

The reason is most likely that you should not be able to ruin actions by either making someone unable to sell their house due to the revoking of the placed bids. Or getting a house for a low price by first placing a bid on a house with one character and then putting up a very large sum with another character and then just before the auction ends revoke the large offer such that it reverts back to the fist low offer.

What if I don't want to buy the house I placed bid anymore? What do I do next?

As the answer suggests, there's not much you can do. The bid cannot be canceled in any way. You can always try looking for someone to outbid you though. If you happen to win the auction, you can also sell it to another player and then buy a new house.
