I was wondering why we can't sit? I'm sure this is a classic question. But now that we ride mounts it's weird it hasn't been implemented yet.

It would be interesting to read the arguments regarding what made people downvote this question. Maybe there is a good reason but right now I don't see why. :)

This question is more related to the decision making of CIP than the Game. There won't be an answer for this, just speculation.

The fact that we don't know whether CipSoft has issued any statement regarding this matter does not mean that they haven't. That does not mean that the question is wrong, but simply that we don't have an answer.
Also, any question is subject to having a biased or speculative answer. That does not mean that the question is wrong, but rather than the hypothetical answer is.
Also, some people with experience in software or gaming development can explain from a complexity point of view the cost of implementing such a thing, as means of orientation on how probable is that they implement that.

I think the main problem here is how he amde the question, not the subject. If we think how you are saying all question could be possible, so I could ask "why there aren't black butterfly at Tibia"? Who knows why? And and what is the relevance of this information?
by (1,322 points)
The thing is he is actually sustaining the question on the fact that you can sit (mount) on some objects and not on others (the most common ones where to sit), which makes it a less arbitrary question. He and other people might not know how the sprite and animation system in tibia works and might wonder "why can we do that there and not here?", and that answer can be fulfilled.
Sitting might not be relevant from a purely gaming point of view, but from an RPG PoV is actually enriching.

I work with software development. The effort to make this new function is unkown as I have no idea about how is the Tibia's code. However the amount of art work if high as you need at least 4 new sprites for each outfit, considering that all chairs will be the same way.
Even if he sustained the question with the mount argument the question is still irrelevant. Tibia is a fantasy game, not everything will make sense.
I downvote based on my view of how the question will be important to other users and for me this question is not interesting.

I guess because this is a classic question Cipsoft mightve answered why not in the past. I know they have I just cannot remember the answer that the us the players received. I'm genuinely curious so thanks all for your response!

The reason is that for CIPSOFT it is not worth the time invested in this feature.

Mounts follow a certain pattern so the same sprite of an outfit mounting will fit any mount. But is it the case of chairs?

If not what is CIP going to do? Standardize all chairs or create multiple sprites for different types of chairs.

Also there will be necessary a new function to be implemented. The gain in the game is too small to justify the time invested.

lal... this question made me laught.

Indeed this is one of many mysteries on tibia.

But thinking about it, even if you could, there would exist the option to do or not to when standing over it, since you can also stand over tables, and other stuff.

glad it made u laugh as someone voted it down they dont ever wanna sit hahahah xD

I would say that the main reason is that the sprites for mounts do not necessarily work on objects such as chairs, plus there could be clipping issues. That being said, I think that implementing the sitting sprites could be a big effort because they would have to be implemented for each outfit (plus you have two genders). That would be a big effort, which I believe is why they have not implemented it and most likely they won't implement it.

I agree that it would be great to have a sitting animation/sprites though. Maybe they could implement a generic animation in a similar fashion to that of the one used in the bathtub . In that way, I believe it would be "easily" implementable.

kk every player thought about it at least once rsrs.

Well I think the way to CIP to introduce a way to the characters to sit would be  "using" chairs, sofas... but in Tibia in general items that we can "use" we can not passa on it, like beds, so over some areas of Tibia it would be a problem. That is one reason i think might be a problem, but not sure.

To be honest I think CIP just don't care about this =/

I think the main problem of no having a option to sit in a chair in game yet is more like how to use a chair, most of useable things in game you can’t walk thought it so it could be like using mounts like every time you are close to a chair you use a hotkey or something like that but nobody knows if this mechanic is possible in tibia.

But you know the worst part of it they are trying to make all this type of ideas and breaking all graphics mechanics ( example of add a bed everywhere you want and you can have a pile or half bed) just calm down and wait everyone will sit a chair very soon ;) even if it comes with thousands of new bugs xD
