Is there a time limit to complete the Soulwar quest after winning the first taint or after obtaining the last taint?

A team that is taking a long time to do the quest, completing one boss per week—will they be able to reach the final boss?

Answer 1

Taints, once acquired, will not disappear on their own. You can only remove taints in one of two ways:

1. Requesting Removal from an NPC - Flickering soul NPCs may offer to remove taints upon request (as long as 3 days from the last defeated boss has passed).
2. Failing the Final Boss - If you fail the final boss encounter, two taints will be removed at random. However, failing the boss means you’ll need to defeat two specific bosses again to reattempt the final boss battle.

Taint Effects:

1. 10% chance of a creature teleporting to you.
2. 0.5% chance of a new creature spawning when you attack.
3. 15% increased damage received.
4. 10% chance for a creature to fully heal itself instead of dying.
5. 10% loss of your current health and mana every 10 seconds.
   
   To check which taints you've acquired, ask a Flickering Soul about "shards."
