Is there lore behind the Ring of the Sky?

Is it an allusion to anything? Is it mentioned in at least a single book or NPC interaction?

Did it have any use prior to the introduction of the wizard outfits quest?

To my knowledge, there is no specific story of the Ring of the Sky, but we know some facts that occur within the game related to it:

• Previously it was only dropped by Warlocks, who are known for using star-related rituals. Nowadays it's also dropped by more bosses, who probably drop it for a similar reason.

• The ring is also needed to sacrifice it in the name of Zathroth in the Wizard Outfit. The reason itself for this fact is only speculative.

• We can find it at the tip of the "Crystal Wand" , which can be obtained through a quest in Demona (City of Warlocks). Also is dropped by Rahemos in Ankrahmun, who also respawn next to a Warlock. In fact Rahemos is one of the few current Bosses which are able to summon Demons. And in some writings within the game it's explained that for certain rituals you need to know the positioning of stars, which probably refers to that stellar knowledge to be able to summon a demon, and this ring/wand could be related to that.
  
  

• Lastly, we have the Ring of Wishes, which looks the same as the Ring of the Sky. However, it's unknown if this factor is due to both being used for a similar purpose, or if it's simply a "recycled" sprite. Also it's unkwown why it has 3 charges, however, the "3 charges" are in the description of the item, not in the "charges" section. Therefore, in theory, this ring has no charge.
