How to put an item on top of the christmas tree?

I saw several houses with items on top of the christmas tree. I tried several ways and i couldn't.

There are a few ways to do that. An easy one is to place a destructible container such as a chest or a box under the tree, place the item you want on the top inside the container and break it by using a melee weapon on it via the browse field feature. After destroying the container, you can remove its trash via browse field, too.

I tried this method and I couldn't do it, I don't know what but I must do it. Could you tell an exact example of how to do?
