Gold VIP status, what does it mean?

I have noticed that one of my friends name is in gold ( for further clarifications- no it is definitely not orange colour). What does it mean and how to get this colour?

This is something that is news to me but it appears Tournament winners may appear as gold on VIP lists.

"The Column of Tournament Heroes will also be removed eventually in the course of 2022, probably along with Tournament Coins, and the character name of winners will then not be shown in gold anymore in the Friend list."
