Do the monsters before the Heart of Destruction vortex count towards Hunting Tasks?

During today's bosses, I was wondering if the monsters that appear before entering the Otherworld vortex during the Heart Of Destruction quest can be killed for Hunting Tasks?

These creatures do not count towards hunting tasks. I tested it out myself when I finished my hunt within the Otherworld.
