How do I get Monolith of the Planes to blink?

I've had one in my house for months and I've never seen it blinking.

Now when I logged in it was blinking in binary, like you can read of in the wiki.

But it has never blinked for me before, just being solid black or red.

It stopped when I clicked on it.

What's the mechanism to get to to start signaling in binary again and how do I do it?

To get the monolith to blink, simply turn it off and wait. after about a minute it starts to blink in Morse code. It will appear to be off and stationary on black, but it will indeed start to blink.
