If you die while killing the World Devourer, but your team manages to kill it - do you unlock the imbuements?

If you're doing the final boss of Heart of Destruction, World Devourer. and managed to make damage on it but dies:

Do you still get the imbuements for defeating it, if the remains of your team manages to kill it?

Or is the imbuements unlocked when opening the reward chest that appears after the boss have been defeated?

Hi, in order to be able to get the ability to imbue from this mission you have to kill the boss and get to the adventurer's guild and talk with NPC Yana, she's the one who teaches you these imbuements but you have to successfully finish the boss. Otherwise you will only get the loot from it, but not the rewards from the chest or the imbuements from the NPC.
