So i was looking around the statistics on the different servers and i realized that on nonpvp servers, paladins are in average the second most popular vocation (behind knight), but on other servers they are in the most ocasions the least used vocation.

I always played in non pvp servers, so i can understand very well why it is so popular, because they do almost everything. But why dont ppl use them as much on pvp ? As a matter of fact, it seems the most pvp active a server is, the least paladins exist, like in servers at war for long periods.

I don't play PVP so someone else may be able to give a better answer. But a big part of war is not being limited by the amount of frags you can take. If you kill too many characters you will get red skull which wouldn't be great for your main character. Leveling up mages is the quickest way to get more characters that can deal reliable damage to kill enemies.

A level 100 or 150 paladin would require months of training to get decent damage. For mages at this level you can SD and if coordinated correctly can take down higher level enemies you are at war with. These characters are referred to as "makers".

Knight has always been the most popular vocation and I am sure many people still main a Paladin. While someone playing on a PvP world has 1 Main paladin, they may have 5+ "makers". Also, if someone already mains a Sorcerer or Druid, they could also have 5+ "makers".  It is just the use of these "makers" during wars on PVP is why I believe Paladins are pushed to the bottom of the list for popularity.

Paladins are not very used in wars now because as many characters are really high lvl nowadays, paladins are the best target, and using for fight the only they can do is get used to run some areas throwing magic walls, and that's a lot better with an ek in case of a trap. For battles people prefer the speed in a mage full set, and the combos for sd, and obviously the paralizes in druids.
