You didn't say witch weapon but lets suppose for a winter blade. Most of time you go for critical damage and mana on a 2 hand weapon (there is a exception in higher levels hunting where you have a bigger mana pool and a big return on mana), life leach on armor and mana leach on helmet. Lets go to the why: in lower levels your mana pool is quite small and you depend of mana to cast spells (healing and attack) so if you get out of mana you will stop to doing damage and also stop to getting most of the life leach and mana leach from attacks. It easier to hunt with 2 voids so you don't need to mana potions that much. I hunt walls in a lower lvl ek (270 with 122sword skills), the set is winter blade( mana, crit), demon helmet ( sword fighting ,mana leach), ornate chest plate (fire protection+life leach), gnome shield with fire protection. If you cant afford those don't worry a zaoan helmet with mana and a prismatic armor with life leach will be good as well.
Another important thing about new eks always let the melee weapon hit the monster before to cast a spell. The single target hit of a melee sword recover a lot of mana and life leach and spamming spells wont let you auto attack. It is a small trick that make a lot of difference if done properly. If you got any more doubts about set imbues and weapons fell free to ask in comments.
