We used to think that Tibia is based on a simple scheme – player vs. monster. Indeed it mostly works exactly like this, but Tibia is based not only on game mechanics, but also on interesting lore, which shows different conflicts between races known from distant lands of Tibia.
DJINN WARS
A great example of absolute hate between monsters are Djinns. The lower level ranked djinns have been engaged in a war between the Efreet and the Marid. They are so evenly matched, however, that neither side has been able to overcome the other. Their conflict is one of the oldest one known in Tibia.
Blue Djinns:
„Searching the world for the servants of evil and ther eternal nemesis, the green djinns, they still pose a threat for all those they suspect of being in league with evil.”

Green Djinns:
„Despising all living beings and everything that is beautiful, their especially passionate hatred is reserved for their blue-skinned relatives, whom they regard as traitors to djinnkind.”

If you are looking for more information about Djinn Wars you can read it in books, which are avaliable in Ashta'daramai Library and Mal'ouquah Library.
While about the conflict itself we could find a lot of information in books or noticed it while doing Green/Blue Djinn Quest, in version 12.0 Cipsoft implemented a new hunting place - Haunted Tomb with a portal, which leads us to the area where both sides: Marids and Efrees literally kill each other.
We can become a part of the real battlefield!
DEEPLINGS vs. DEATHLINGS
Deathlings Scouts and Deathlings Spellsinger are known as Elder Deeplings. Their origin has not been studied and for a long time they were just a myth to the younger Njey. Even thought Deeplings and Deathlings have a similar goals, the elders are agressive and dangerous enough to have no mercy for their younger siblings.
Those black "things" I encountered are ruthless and murderous. If I translated their language correctly, they call themselves deathlings. According to what I saw in that lost temple in Tiquanda, they are gathering in large numbers. Someone has to stop that from happening! There is a visual resemblance between the deeplings and those creatures. Somehow, they must be congeneric but it looks like they are fighting each other. (...) The deeplings can be quite annoying already but you can keep them under control and you get used to their smell of. If they lose this fight and the deathlings take over their realm, one can only imagine the terror they are going to spread over the whole island and ultimately over all Tibia!

KILMARESH’S INHABITANTS AGAINST FAFNAR CULTISTS
To understand this conflict we have to know the history of Kilmaresh.
Inhabitants of this old empire worshipped two sun gods – Suon and Fafnar. The worship of both deities was always in balance. As time passed, Fafnar worshipers bacame more influential and agressively tried to destroy such an important balance. It started a civil war between Fafnar followers and the rest, who wanted duality of the two sun gods. The war was ended by Suon himself by splitting off the eastern peninsula from western part of the landmass. Locals call it "Suon’s Wrath".
Nowadays Anuma have the control of Kilmaresh, but still among the Issavi sewers and deep under the Kilmaresh Mountains a lot of Fafnar Cultists are hiding and corrupting other creatures.
We can read about this conflict in a letter from Amaro to Jack Springer:
At this very moment, I'm trying to gather evidence to unmask a traitor who's consorting with the forbidden cult of Fafnar. Those cultists have turned into a real threat. They are corrupting the hearts of more and more living creatures here.
Sphinx Empress freed numerous of enslaved Ogres lived on Kilmaresh. Most of them went back to Krailos, but a single tribe still lives north of the ruined city Nuur and fight with Fafnar Cultists in the name of loyality.
THE ORDER OF THE LION UNDER ATTACK
In one of the summer update announcement we could read:
It is true that the divide had been there for a long time. It is true that most of us chose to ignore it, wanting to live in harmony. I hesitate to put blame in this matter on anyone, but cannot help to fault myself for my reticence. I follow the teachings of Kesar and need to speak out on behalf of them. I so very much hope that Drume and Fugue can be reasoned with, that they see the folly of their ways. That Kesar the Younger will be fair in his judgment – in fact, I am certain of that – and that we can find an amicable solution which pleases all sides, now and forever. I am convinced that we can emerge from this period of discontent stronger than before, affirmed in our beliefs, united as one. I shall only return to this diary once this conflict has been resolved, to read about this time of unrest and rejoice, for the rain clouds have finally given way to sheer sunlight.
– Oswin, Knight of the Order of the Lion
The Order of the Lion with their headquarters are located on a small island north from Liberty bay called Bounac. Current leader is Kesar the Younger. It was founded by Kesar Etzel after a dispute within the Order of the Falcon between he and his siblings Oberon and Scarlett Etzel (who created the Order of the Cobra).
The Order of the Lion is under attack by usurpers which desire to take control of the order, led by Fugue and Drume and supported by the Order of the Falcon.
Curiosity:
Every time we go to face Drume, Kesar is also there willing to help. In practice it means we can use him as a blocker ;) Drume has target on both - players and Kesar!
Worth to add some examples, which are not based on any lore, but are easily noticable during playing Tibia!
STRONGER MONSTER MAY KILL WEAKER
You’ve probably noticed, that stronger monsters may kill weaker, target-blocking monsters if necessary. It happens often when you’re surrounded by weak monsters and the stronger one is near. This monster will kill the weak one to clear the spot next to you.
AGRESSIVE MINOTAURS
Glooth Powerded Minotaurs are known due to being a pain while hunting east raid in Glooth Underground Factory. They are immortal, hit quite a lot and what is more – they do area attack, which hurts all monsters around. Visible red damage on the screenshot below is dealt by Glooth Powered Minotaur:
BOSSES' MECHANICS
A lot of bosses' mechanics, more or less literally, are based on getting one monster to be killed by another.
- A good example we can find in a final battle of Ferumbras' Ascendant Quest - Rift Fragments using drowning attacks must destroy Destabilized Ferumbras (one of early final boss' forms).
- Another example of using drowning against the creature is fighting with The Red Knight (one of mini-bosses before you face King Zelos in The Grave Danger Quest). Players kill Vampiric Blood, which explode dealing drowning attack to both, players and creature.
- Liquor Spirits, which when attacked, casts area spells that can damage Leiden (Cults of Tibia Quest) are also a great example.
- In Soul War Quest (fight with Ghoshnar's Cruelty) players have to lure Poor Soul to a Greedy Eye's sight range and wait for the deathly beam to kill the Soul.
- Finally during fight with one of The Secret Library Quest mini-bosses - Ghulosh, players have to focus Ghulosh Deathgaze's beam on a Concentrated Death. All damage will be reflected and destroy this particular form of the boss.
