What will happen if I die at level 6?

Question

I have died a couple of times and I am stuck at level 6 right now. I am scared to go on a hunt because my character is hunted.

What will happen if I die at level 6? Will I preserve my items and cash?

If you die to level 5 you will return to Dawnport as a level 2 character without a vocation. However, you can go back to Rookgaard from Dawnport by talking to NPC Inigo by saying: Hi, Rookgaard, Yes, Yes. Please note: You need to already have at least one character on the main continent to go to Rookgaard. Your character may not be level 10 or higher if he wants to go to Rookgaard and it is impossible to return to Dawnport from Rookgaard. Also, you cannot take Dawnport exclusive items to Rookgaard. You cannot use prey bonus anymore in beginner islands - Even if activated in main when rooked they removed this option and I confirmed it. Decided to edit your answer and add some things :)

If You will die at level 6 and experience points go below 1500, your character's level will be reset to 1.

All your spells will be wiped out.
A character will be placed in the tutorial island part of Rookgaard again.
Additionally, account bank will get reset, the same as all items except items stored in depot box.

I'm pretty sure that you will go back to Dawnport instead of Rookgaard nowadays. However, you will be able to pick Rookgaard instead of Dawnport in order to level there, but you will need to talk with NPC Inigo after returning to Dawnport.
