How many times can reins be used before it breaks?

Question

I bought a rein from a person who was standing in the depot, at first try it broke.

Does it has something to do with the old owner by maybe using it as many times before trying to sell it?

Maybe he tried many times and decided to sell it before it disappear

For me my Black Sheep ran away probably 3x + before I was able to tame my Black Sheep. Also, my reins luckily didn't break. I heard from others it took them multiple times to tame and even broke more often.  I believe it's all completely random you can get it your first try or 5th try (hopefully not). I don't think there's any stats on if we sell it to other players that it will decrease it's chances of working although that would be some pretty sad coding :(

I have tamed 6 black sheep recently, on 4 of the chars it took an average of 3 reigns each to finally tame the beast while the remaining 2 did it with a single taming item.

In my opinion is random.  I used 15times before I tammed black sheep and finally got this. I used item 20 times more than one time before I caught hibernal moth, but apparently this item doesn't break. However, when I caught the panda, the item broke many times the first time.   There seems to be no solution for this, random random! :D

When you use your rein it can happen one of the following:

1. Tame the monster
2. The monster run away
3. The rein break

There is no official statistics about the percentage of each. The percentage may change from item to item but for the itens that have a chance of breaking I guess its 50% of running away, 30% of taming and 20% of breaking the item from my experience.
