Is it possible to leave the Soulpit without defeating all the creatures?

If things get out of control, can I leave the Soulpit at any time? Or only after defeating all the creatures?

Yes, you can leave the area just by clicking in some kind of Sphere on the south. But if you do this, you will lose the soul core you have spent.
