How do I buy items from an NPC and get them in a bag?

I know this feature exists, but I don't see how to activate it and I need to be able to buy items and have it give them to me in a backpack so it doesn't clutter up my backpack.

Open the npc trade window, click on the button selected in the image above and check the option "Buy in shopping bags".
