Do I need to hand Eustacio's handkerchief to Ra’Clete in order to get access to that part of the island?

On the A Pirate's Tail Quest there is a small part where you need to do a "mini quest" to get the access to treasure island, Ra'Clete asks you to get Eustacio's handkerchief, but if instead of give her the handkerchief I keep it , can I continue the quest? does she give me the next part of the rhyme and I can keep doing the quest or I need to sacrifice the item in order to get access to that part of the island to complete the Journey mission and get the treasure.

You need to sacrifice the item to continue the quest…. But you can get more than one item everyday before completing this part of the quest if you want to use as decoration …
