How economy works in Tibia?

Question

Tibia as an ORPG with markets has an economy that is altered by many different direct and indirect factors.

The prices of the equipment, the consumables, Tibia Coins and valuables are fluctuating constantly due to them, may be events due to an update of the game, a world change or just the trend of the supply and demand of the players themselves.

All these can be analyzed to have a better perspective of the market and the economy of Tibia/

The economic system in Tibia is like in any other ORPG, the free market economy in pure form. Each player can manage their own belongings, the good for trade are absolutely homogenous and players have unrestricted access as suppliers and consumers.

There are two currencies, one of them is gold with 3 denominations such as gold coins, platinum coins (100 gold coins) and crystal coins (10,000 gold coins). The second is a "non-tangible" currency called Tibia Coins which can represent a variable price depending on the supply and demand of the different game servers, but at the end all valued on gold coins.

The driving force behind this economy are the players who are the only consciously acting economic entities.
