Is the character being trained during the character auction?

I am wondering if the characters placed on the char bazaar are being trained, or they are losing "training time" due to being on sale.

This would be a crucial factor during the double skill events and for the auctions which last for weeks or a month.

No, they are not. Once an auction takes place the character logs out and anything related to the character gets frozen, including daily rewards. Additionally, an user is unable to log in the character while an auction is ongoing, making it impossible to online or offline train auctioned characters.
