How does the loot prey work in team hunts?

I heard that prey for loot in team hunt is only working when the player who has this prey activated deals most damage to the creature.

I am not sure if it is true though - can someone confirm/deny this? If it is not true, please explain how prey for loot works in a team hunt.

This is correct- the loot prey is activated only if the person who has it, deals the most damage to the creature selected. This also been confirmed by Rejana:
