I am not up to date with all the stuff going on in Tibia. I always unequip my items when I am not hunting so I won't lose my imbuements. Is it still a common practice to do, or something has changed? Maybe I won't lose my imbuements when I don't attack monsters?

There are 2 different types of imbuement counters

  1. Some imbuements timer count only when fighting and the items equipped this means if you have the attack sign even if you didn't attack your imbuement is running, or when you receive experience or damage creatures while in the depot or just before you go to the depot the timer is considered on due to fighting. So for example, you firebomb an elf and you go to the depot with your imbuement item equipped you will lose time off of the imbuement. Just unequip the imbuement item to avoid this.
  2. Other imbuements timer count when you have them equipped and your online regardless of whether you're fighting or not.

The only imbuements in which the timer counts when the item is equipped with or without a combat sign is Paralysis Removal, Walking Speed, or Capacity. It's recommended to keep these items in your backpack when not being used. All other imbuements only count when equipped and considered "fighting"

At the imbuement shrine, it will tell you how the imbuement works, fighting or equipped whether your deciding on the imbuement or if the item already has the imbuement applied it will let you know-

In the example above, Powerful Vampirism's timer is only while fighting and Paralysis Removal of course is only while equipped and online.

I knew there was a difference between the imbues but never realized it actually said the "while equipped" and "while fighting" when imbuing the item. Nice!

This is a great response to this question as I was wondering the same thing today. Thank you and looked this up in 2022.

It is still the same even before taking off the equipment, I prefer to use lower range equipment than this imbuement.
